Description

The Remiornithidae is a family of primitive Paleognaths, commonly known as Ratites, that lived during the Paleocene epoch of Europe.

Distribution & Fossil evidence

Fossil of Remiornithidae have been found in France and are mainly represented by leg bones. Remiornithids had very stout legs, like that of modern-day Rheas.

The Remiornithidae-family contains only a single species, Remiornis.
